Together for each other

TAJDO is more than just an organization – we are a community of people who are wholeheartedly and passionately committed to helping the street dogs of Zanzibar.

Our goal is to enable every dog to live a safe, loving and healthy life.

We believe that even small acts can have a big impact: A little food, a shady spot, or medical care can change a dog's life forever.

With every project we launch and every bit of help we provide, we demonstrate that solidarity, care, and responsibility are not just empty words – but the foundation for a better future for both humans and animals.

Maintenance & Care

TAJDO's primary focus is the well-being of street dogs. We regularly provide fresh food and clean water to ensure the animals' survival. In addition, we develop thoughtfully designed feeding bowls and build doghouses in local communities to offer the dogs a safe and loving environment. We also place a strong emphasis on medical care: in cooperation with local veterinarians, we administer vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and perform necessary surgeries to ensure the animals' long-term health.

Development & Vision

TAJDO is working towards the goal of one day establishing a dog shelter in Zanzibar. But our work means more than just a concrete goal: it fosters the development of potential – both in the dogs and in our own actions. Every step TAJDO takes is designed sustainably and responsibly. In this way, we grow continuously and realize our vision step by step.

Education & Enlightenment

TAJDO aims to raise awareness about the needs and challenges faced by street dogs. Many people in Zanzibar are poorly informed or completely uninformed about these animals, which often leads to mistreatment. Religious prejudices are frequently cited as justification, even though Islam does not prescribe harming animals. We focus on education and raising awareness: Firstly, we want to foster respect, understanding, and love for our four-legged friends among the local population. Secondly, we inform people about how everyone can contribute to tangibly improving the lives of street dogs through small acts of kindness.
