'TAJDO' is made up of Tajana and Dollar (or Dog).
Tajana Bieri
"I'm Tajana, 22 years old and was born and raised in Switzerland. Today I live with my dog named 'Dollar' on Zanzibar in Tanzania. I dedicate my whole life to the street dogs there.
I grew up in a very loving family with an older sister and a younger brother. My father is deaf and my mother is hard of hearing, which is why I grew up partly in the world of the hearing impaired and used sign language. This probably contributed a lot to my cosmopolitanism.
The love and connection to animals, especially dogs, has accompanied me since childhood. The older I got, the more I wanted to have my own dog. My dog 'Dollar' found his way to me from an animal shelter in Italy. We have been accompanying each other through life for six years.
Nevertheless, I completed my training as a specialist in caring for people with disabilities and continued to work in this field. The strong need for responsibility and the promotion of a sense of community, generosity and positive zest for life drove me further For the first time in Zanzibar/Tanzania and I felt 'at home', more than I could have ever imagined in Switzerland. For the first time I experienced a feeling of 'being welcomed'. As a young woman, feeling 'safe' in a country that is not mine. For these reasons, my love for Zanzibar in Tanzania grew, combined with the love for our four-legged friends.
This is how TAJDO was born. "
Dollar
"I am Dollar, about 13 years young in dog years, which is about 91 years in human years. Originally I lived on the streets of Italy. Then I was taken in by an animal shelter, where I lived for five years with many other street dogs. Since my mom 'Tajana' took me from there, she never knew exactly how old I really am. I have now been living lovingly and adventurously with my mom for five years. Now I can spend my last years as a 'grandpa' on the beach in Zanzibar and at the same time I was a significant part of the inspiration for TAJDO."
